The Word:
“Lord,
how long will you watch this
happen?” Psalm 35:17
Prayer:
Lord, how do I live
when you are silent? I cry out for you,
but you seem so far away. How do I know
when you’re silence is an act of discipline of your love, teaching me to
trust. Or is it a result of my own
deeds, reaping what I have sowed? When
is my lack of joy and confidence a result of trusting earthly things, like the
opinions of others, status or success? I
need to set my eyes on things above, not on things below. Yet your grace didn’t wait for me to act
first. If it did, I would have never come
to you. So, maybe it’s okay to be in a
dry time and walk in faithful commitment, even if you seem to be silent. Help me from being so self-centered. It is in the dry times that the roots
grow. I will seek you with all my heart.
Act of Devotion:
In what area of your life
does it seem God has remained silent?
What will your response to him be if he continues to remain silent? Do a word-search of the bible for the word
‘silent’ at www.biblestudytools.net
to see how others have dealt with this throughout history.
