The Word:
“Abide in Me...” John 15:4
Prayer:
Jesus, I long to
reflect you to the world. Yet I mirror
so much of me. Some say that people who
are always joking are often insecure and that they use laughter to avoid deeper
issues of fear they are unwilling to face.
But what is the balance, for I know laughter is good? But I don’t want to be a goof – a big guy
controlled by a little kid with lots of fears inside. I want to be motivated by your spirit. Please let me use the gifts and personality you have given me to lift up others in your name
and glorify you. I know that will only
come when I abide in you, rest in you and trust in you. I don’t want to act out of busyness, urgency
or fear, but because I’ve been with you and your love controls me. Then laughter can bring life by sharing your
life, and help connect hearts. I don’t
want to hide behind a mask of humor. I want
to hide and abide only in you.
Act of Devotion:
Abide. Rest. Reflect.
